Overview

I am passionate about the arts and education. I recently took the Deeply Rooted Summer Dance Intensive and currently dance in Kids Can Dance specifically performing for non-violence and social justice causes. I am a lifelong dancer experienced in primarily hip-hop, and now I am trying things that I have never done before by studying different forms of dance.

My goal is to complete a dance program through Joel Hall Studio in Chicago. I want to learn additional dance styles (including modern, graham, horton, and classical ballet) and hone my skills to eventually become part of a dance company long term.

I need $300 to fund the rest of my tuition for the program at Joel Hall Studio this Fall. After auditioning, I received a partial scholarship and that is the remaining amount in order for me to attend.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be taking classes that will make me a more well -rounded dancer and it will allow me to audition for dance companies that I was excluded from before based on limited knowledge.

Carolyn has been working with Center for Changing Lives on employment and financial goals since 2017. As her Career Advancement Coach, I have been working with Carolyn on refining her goals in regards to finding part time work while completing school. Her interests in the arts shine through strongly and her creativity and dedication to youth is inspiring. It would be wonderful to see Carolyn receive this funding to help her complete the dance program and be able to expand her abilities in the arts.
