Overview

I am a 78 year old man with a long history of dealing with medical issues, including cancer, diabetes, and chronic fatigue. My bicycle is my only means of transportation, but when the weather doesn't cooperate I am grounded. I am not able to apply for benefits like the free ride pass or meals programs because I am not eligible. For my survival, I depend on food from food pantries.

During the warmer months or when it is not raining, I can use my bicycle to go to food pantries. However, in the winter I face a lot of trouble getting to pantries without access to public transportation.

For this reason, it would help me immensely to have a monthly bus pass for the winter months. This would help me to go to food pantries and transport food home, to attend medical appointments, and meetings with my case manager.

Having access to public transportation will help me to meet my health and survival needs, and to help me stay connected to other people who I also try to help and support. Sharing is growing.

He is always generous with his time and willing to help and support others with no expectations of others. I have witnessed the challenges that he has faced accessing services (food, medical, and case management) without access to public transportation. A bus pass, especially in the winter months, will make a huge difference.
