Overview

I am a 50 year old mother of two and wife. When I gave birth at age 20 I was left with a fistula but I didn't know what was wrong. I lived with it for 30 years until this year when I got surgery from an outreach program.

My goals are to be able to support my family by farming. When I was with the fistula it was difficult to work because of the pain, so my husband tried to provide for all of us. After my surgery I did a farming skills training and business training. Now that I am well I want to contribute and pay for my children to have good lives.

I need $175 to buy corn and beans for farming.

Meeting this need will help me because I have the skills to earn money by farming, and the motivation to support my family. Once I have $175 to buy supplies, I will have a better future for my and my family.

Caroline is a true survivor. Of all the women who come into our programs, it is rare to meet a person who has suffered as long as Caroline has with obstetric fistula. Her newfound health has been hugely motivating for her - she can't wait to get her farm up and running. Her persistence will serve her well and Beyond Fistula will be following up with her to provide additional help as needed.
