Bobbie

Bobbie from Chicago, IL

Mother of three, building a life. Furniture will help my children feel safe at home.

I want to use my recovery story to help others as a drug/alcohol coach. I moved into an apartment; I need to furnish it & give my kids a safe home.

Overview

I am a 48 year old woman with three children. I lost everything because I was addicted to drugs. In October 2018, I went to Above and Beyond for recovery and I completed the program on March 2019. Afterwards, I became a mentor to help spread knowledge about the benefits of recovery and to share my experience and help those who are contemplating recovery become more welcomed. I recently moved into an apartment and am in desperate need of furniture (bed, etc.).

My goal is to go back to school to become a drug and alcohol counselor. Since I became a mentor at Above and Beyond, I am currently taking classes to become a recovery coach.

I need furniture to help make my new home comfortable for my children and to continue this projection of growth and change.

Meeting this need will help me because I will not have to worry about where to sleep and the safety of my children when I am away pursuing my goal as a counselor while attending classes. My top priority is the safety of my children; the comfort that a home will bring will help continue to motivate me to help provide more!

I have known Bobbie while she has attended treatment at Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center. She has made sure to put her best foot forward when it came to participating in treatment. Bobbie has been a soft voice, but a powerful one. She encourages patients in the treatment center to try new things and she supports them along the way. Her obtaining this new home has been a blessing for her and we are both excited for the next steps in her recovery!
