Overview

I am a 48 year old mother with a 19 year old son. When I gave birth to him I got an injury called obstetric fistula and I lived with it since then until I had surgery this year.

My goals are to earn a living by farming. I am passionate about farming and I have skills I learned when I was younger. My fistula held me back from the hard physical labor but now I am healed.

I need $400 to buy a cow, buy seeds, and lease a plot of land.

Meeting this need will help me because I have the skills and the motivation to earn a living and support myself and my son. The only thing I need is money to start. I am so grateful to be healed after all these years that I have a lot of energy to help myself.

Leah is a survivor - a single mother, she lived with an obstetric fistula for 19 years before learning about the surgery and getting repaired. She is ambitious and learning to have her own power. She has already single-handedly raised her son to young adulthood, and now she is ready to be successful as a farmer earning for herself. Beyond Fistula will be supporting and checking on her to provide whatever additional help she needs.
