MK Douglas from Concord, NC

I am a daughter who is trying to take care of her aging parent and in need of car repairs.

I need car repairs, which include a radiator adjustment, timing belt and water pump so I can get a job and continue to care for my family.

Message from MK Douglas Jul 8, 2013

May God richly bless all those who donated in support of me. It is difficult to explain how relieved I feel. As I left the auto repair shop Wednesday, I felt so blessed and thankful, actually I was overwhelmed. As tears fell, I realized that I could drive my car without fear and transport my Dad & Uncle with more confidence. Thank you! Thank you!

Message from Rev. Dr. Washington Jul 8, 2013

We, The Zion Hill AME Zion Church Family, are overjoyed to be able to reach out and help someone. As the scripture states:
Matthew 25:35-40 (KJV) "For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." We are thankful to have a way to touch people's hearts and supply a need.

Overview

I need my car fixed so I can take my aging father and uncle to their medical appointments, as well as secure solid employment for myself. With reliable transportation, I know that more doors will be available and open to me to pursue income opportunities that will not only help us but allow me to help others who are hurting too. My goal is to become employed. I am looking to substitute teach knowing that what I will get paid would allow me to pay for someone to be with my dad and uncle during those times I can't. However, I need reliable transportation for that.

I left my job and moved from another city so that I could care for my aging dad and uncle. Neither one of them had anyone available to care for them. My Uncle developed prostate cancer and my dad's vision and mobility declined. I could not maintain my job and care for them, nor would my income allow me to pay to have someone come into the home. I used my entire savings over this last year when I had to leave my job so I could take care of them both. I am able to work now, but employment is not an option with no transportation. Right now, my biggest challenge is that I need reliable transportation. I'm unable to to do simple tasks of taking them to and from appointments. Currently, I must stop and put water in my car every mile or so which keeps me from doing everything that I need to do. God forbid that an emergency arises especially since my Uncle does not live in the home with my Dad & me.

My current situation is that I must care for my 93 yr old Father & his 85 yr old brother who is undergoing cancer treatment. In addition to transporting each to medical appointments, I shop for them and handle their business affairs.

I have known MK Douglas since the end of November 2011. She was the secretary of a local church and that's how we met. Her whole demeanor was one of servitude.

I believe meeting this need is important because MK will be able to do 100% more for herself, her family, her community and for Christ than she's able to do now. MK suffers from extreme anxiety partially due to her heart's desire of making sure her family's needs are met. I know that getting this need funded will bring healing to her mind, body and soul and allow for her to a stable, secure position. This will give her the hope she needs to move forward with her life. Getting this need met will be the start to the first step of restoration in her life.

MK is a kind, loving, God-fearing and God-loving person and she has compassion for all that she meets.
