Overview
The Fedcap Group’s Food Arts Center is working 24/7 to address food insecurity among people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting on March 27th Migrant Kitchen will produce over 1000 meals per day, five days per week, at the Food Arts Center. Migrant Kitchen, a NYC-based social enterprise, is providing free meals to healthcare workers and their families, including frontline workers at the Covid-19 treatment units at Bellevue Hospital Center, Lenox Hill Hospital, and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Migrant Kitchen is leveraging Door Dash’s last-mile logistics platform to deliver the meals and is looking to expand to other area hospitals and centers sheltering those who are especially vulnerable to COVID-19. Migrant Kitchen’s work at the FAC is being sponsored by World Central Kitchen, a global organization dedicated to finding smart solutions to hunger and poverty.
The FAC has also been hosting Feed the People (FTP) which is producing and delivering emergency meals to families and individuals who are housebound or have food security issues. Feed the People transported close to 500 meals per day during the first phase of their work with FAC.
To continue and expand this critical work the FAC needs your help.
Worthy organizations throughout NYC are seeking to use Fedcap’s Food Art Center kitchen—operating 24-7, to provide food to those in need throughout New York City. The Food Art Center needs funds to cover the cost of this operation, funds for transportation, cooks, etc. We have also received a generous in kind donation --thank you to Stephanie Katzman for her donation of four pallets of food.
