Lemia from San Jose, CA

I'm moving into my first apartment and going to school. I need furniture to start life independently

I moved into my 1st apartment, joined the U.S. Army Reserves, and I'm going to college. But I still need a couch, table, chairs, desk, and microwave.

Updates

Thanks from Lemia Dec 6, 2013

We just got word from Lemia's case manager, Katelyn, that they've returned from Target with the items she still needed (a couple of bar stools, a table lamp, an area rug, and a few smaller items).

They're both thrilled at the help you've all provided, and send their thanks!

Lemia's received some donated furniture! Nov 12, 2013

We've heard good news from Katelyn! Some furniture has already been donated to Lemia. Now, all she still needs is stools and a vacuum.

An update from Lemia Oct 21, 2013

We have received an update from Lemia's Case Manager, Katelyn, on her progress:

"Lemia has officially moved into her own apartment. She is enjoying her new independence and is working very hard at West Valley College four days a week and participating in ROTC. Lemia is passing all her classes and excelling at ROTC. Lemia still needs a few essentials for her apartment such as pots/pans, tables/chairs, and small appliances."

Overview

I need furniture for my first apartment after leaving the Unity Care group home. This includes a couch, table, chairs, desk, and a microwave.

Meeting this need will help me because I will have a comfortable living space so I can be independent and focus on school. I am on top of things, I like to help others, and I like to work hard.

My current situation is I am moving out of a Unity Care group home. I am going to West Valley college and doing ROTC. I have also joined United States Army Reserves.

My goal is to graduate college, join the army, and be independent. I would like to attend a university and work in the health field.

I'm from Indio, but now I live in San Jose and am just moving into my own apartment. I'm happiest when I am in nature. I'm most proud of going to college. I am energetic and I like helping people.

We met when Lemia was in the group home when I was being trained at Unity Care.

Meeting this need is important because it will help Lemia be successful at school and it will help her become more independent.
