Jim from Chicago, IL

I'm a single dad ready to take a new job. I need a Dept of Transportation evaluation to qualify

I need an evaluation to qualify for an available job in the transit system. My goal is to work my way up to conductor & send my daughter to college.

Overview

I need an evaluation to qualify for an available job with a local transportation agency. This includes an evaluation by a Department of Transportation psychiatrist, a 10-12 hour class, and a re-evaluation from the psychiatrist.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to be off of government assistance and hold my head up proud. I will be able to assist someone else in a similar situation to me and most importantly to support my family.

My goal is to become a flagman or conductor. By obtaining this first job within my local transportation agency, I'll be able to work my way up into the rail system and become a conductor. This evaluation is the last step to obtaining this job! If I receive the funding and pass the evaluation, I am guaranteed the job I have applied for there.

I am appreciative of the help provided by donors. Thank you and bless you!

My current situation is that I am a single father, raising my daughter and granddaughter. I am seeking long-term employment with my local transportation agency in order to better the situation in my household. I've been out of full-time work for two years but have been job searching daily. I have passed the physical and background check for the job and only need a psych evaluation at this time in order to obtain employment.

Right now, my biggest challenge is that I am very depressed about my situation. I feel bad that I am not bringing everything I can for my daughter and I want to seek a better life for my kids. I wasn't able to go to college because of lack of funding from my parents. I want to provide the opportunity for my daughter to go to college when I obtain full-time employment.

I think of myself mostly as a father. I have been independent and have supported my family until two years ago, when my mother and girlfriend passed away. Right now, I am raising my children on my own. I am finding it difficult to find a full-time job and I am seeking help now from others after turning to friends and church members. It would be delightful to know where I am going every morning, to pay my bills, and to show my kids that their father is doing everything possible to seek a better life for them. I want to encourage them to do better than I've done. I'm most proud of raising a healthy family.

We met when Jim started working with his career specialist at Inspiration Corporation in July.

I think meeting this need is important because Jim will not be able to become employed by this employer if he does not pass the psychological testing. He has another part time job, but this is a full-time job that he has been working towards for quite some time. If he gets this job, he will be able to support himself and his children.

Jim is a very hardworking and dedicated individual. He cares very much for his family and is doing his best to support them.
