I quit my job to help my daughters heal from abuse. We had bed bugs so now I need beds for my 6 children so we can all move forward with better sleep.

Overview

I need two twin beds and mattresses, and a queen bed and a mattress for my six children.

Meeting this need will help me because my children will be able to have a good night's sleep and my daughters can continue the healing process. It will also help me because I will be able to afford to pay for my oldest son's school fees. Even though I'm only working part-time, I'm very dedicated to provide the best that I can to my children. I would like for my daughters to be able to heal from what happened to them and for all my children to have a better and safe future. Ultimately, my goal is to be able to obtain a full time job so I can provide for my children.

My current situation is that I had to throw out my beds and mattresses because they were infested with bed bugs. I had to quit my full time job when I found out about my daughters' abuse and I have not been able to work full time since then. I'm most proud of my two daughters. Even though they were victims of abuse, they have not given up and continue the healing  process. Thus, I would like to buy beds for my children because they deserve to have a good night's sleep now that they are in school.

I'm from Mexico and I came to the United States over 15 years ago.

I live with my six children - two daughters and four sons. My oldest is in High School and my youngest is in pre-K. They are everything to me!

Something interesting about me is that I love to cook for my children and I'm happiest when it rains because it is very soothing for me.

We met when Sandra was referred to me by her daughters' therapist about 6 months ago. Sandra and I have met consistently when she brings her daughters to therapy at the center to discuss her needs.

I think meeting this need is important because Sandra has not being able to afford to purchase beds and mattresses for her children since she does not have a full time job. This will ease some of the financial burden on her. Most importantly, her children will be able to enjoy a good night's sleep and have a better and more productive day at school.

Sandra was very hesitant to request help because up until now, she has been able to buy things on her own but is very thankful to be able to do so. She is a single mother who has been working very hard to find a full time job to provide a better future for her children. She brings her children to therapy which shows her commitment to her daughters' healing process.
