Overview

I need cleaning supplies to start my house cleaning business. This includes a mop, a broom, a dustpan, mop and water buckets, a vacuum, plastic gloves, cleaning cloths, dish soap, paper towels, window cleaner, bleach, scrubs, sponges, kitchen cleaner, bathroom cleaner, furniture and floor polish, garbage bags, mopping solution for floor type, toilet bowl cleaner, and a duster.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to use the cleaning supplies to begin my own house cleaning business and provide a better future for my children. I have created my business cards and all I need right now is to buy the cleaning supplies so I can start working! Having an income will mean that I can afford to pay for an apartment and buy a car in the future so I can expand my business.

My current situation is that I am living in a shelter and I am unemployed. I would like to start working soon so I can move out of the shelter and afford to pay for my own apartment. I'm a survivor of domestic violence and I feel like I have a chance to start my life again with my children. Even though I have my struggles, I want to keep looking forward to the future and work hard so I can provide a better future for my children. My life barriers have made me a stronger person. They did not bring me down and they will not!

I'm from Uruguay and I have been living in the United States for over 10 years now.

I'm a survivor of domestic violence and up until a few months ago, I was going through a tough time in my life and I am very furtunate to be where I am now. I feel like I have a chance to begin my life again and be a role model for my four children (pre-K age to middle school). They are my everything. I want to show them that sometimes in life you might hit a few bumps but you can pick yourself up and keep going.

Something interesting about me is that I love to cook and I enjoy crafts.

I'm happiest during the spring time because the birds are singing and I breathe the sweet air.

We met when Sara was referred to me by her son's therapist three and a half months ago. Sara and I have been meeting every other week when she brings her son to therapy at the center to discuss her current needs.

I think meeting this need is important because Sara will be able to have the necessary tools to get her business started. She is eager to start working so she can save money and afford to move out of the shelter. Having the cleaning supplies will be the first step towards having financial stability.

Sara is a fighter. Moving into a shelter is always difficult for families but Sara is very thankful for having a safe place to live in with her children and a new chance at rebuilding her life. Sara is very optimistic about her future and is ready to start working. I wish you could have seen her face when we created her business cards. Last but not least, Sara is very consistent with her son's therapy appointments and is very committed to providing a safe environment to her children.
