Katie

Katie from New York, NY

I'm pursuing my bachelor's from home, without a desk! A futon will give me more room.

I study, look for work, & advocate for criminal justice reform, all from home. A futon will let me fit a desk & supplies in my small space.

Overview

I am a writer, poet, and proud mother of two. I am also an advocate and community organizer, fighting for social change in my community. I am currently working towards pursuing my bachelor's degree, and reorganizing my space so I can comfortably pursue my studies at home.

My goals are to get enrolled in school and obtain part time work. I would like to continue my work by volunteering for various organizations to improve the criminal justice system.

I need a futon to help me make the most of my living space. Having a futon would give me more space to fit a desk and chair in my apartment. This will allow me to have room to complete my work.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to utilize my space in a way that will help me be more focused on my work. It will be tremendously challenging to complete my work as a student without having space for a desk and other necessary supplies needed to excel in my studies.

I have been working with Katie for a little over a year. She is a fierce advocate, and is extremely involved in our community. Katie is on a committee that oversees the creation of our quarterly creative publication. She is dedicated to going back to school, and is currently in the process of getting ready to enroll. She is so close to returning back to school, which is her biggest goal. It would be amazing to see her receive this help.

About Dana

I am a social worker at The Women's Project, and have been for about a year now. I love working with our participants and helping them along their journey.
