Overview
I am 40 years old. I left my home country in Africa due to persecution based on sexual orientation and instability due to war. I have been waiting for my asylum case in the USA for 8 years. I have learned English and I've enrolled in school to pursue a career in nursing; for the time being, I am working as a housekeeper.
My goals is to obtain asylum. Each year my case continues to be pushed back to later court dates. It has been 8 years of waiting for my asylum case; 8 years of not seeing my children.
I need to obtain an attorney. My goal is to pay for an immigration attorney that can help with my case and prevent delay in my court dates.
Meeting this need will help, because every time my case gets pushed to a later date, I continue to feel like my life is on hold.

I have started working with Sarah over a month, although client has been part of our organizations for several years. Sarah doesn't hesitate to reach out to Survivors and seek help or guidance. The ongoing delays of the immigration case cause her stress, but Sarah is determined to continue moving forward until case is resolved. In the meantime, she hopes to be able to obtain her nursing license.
