Overview
I am a 58 year old farmer and fistula survivor. When I got a fistula my husband abused me and chased me from our bed, so I slept on a mat on the floor. I had one surgery that worked for a year but then I started leaking again. This year I got repair surgery and now I am healed.
My goals are to start a business selling Kiondo bags. I learned how to make this bag with an organization called Beyond Fistula. I want to earn money for food and rent for myself and my husband, as well as school fees for my grandchild who is in form 1. The father is sick and cannot provide for the child so I am the breadwinner.
I need $300 to buy materials - the fibers of the sisal plant - for Kiondo bags.
Meeting this need will help me because it is on my shoulders to provide school fees for my grandchild and food for my family. I have the skill and can earn if I just have help to get started.
