Overview
I am a 26 year old single mother. When I gave birth six years ago, I developed a fistula. This was recently corrected with surgery at Gynocare Women and Fistula Hospital and now I am healthy and ready to move forward with my life.
My goal is to make and sell woven Kiondo baskets to support my six year old. After the hospital stay, I took a Kiondo workshop and learned how to make the baskets from fibers of the sisal plant.
I need $300 to buy fibers from the sisal plant to make my baskets. I will also buy dyes to color the baskets.
Meeting this need will help me because I need to provide for my child. I have the skill and ambition - I just need the supplies and then I can earn income for school fees and uniforms.

Joanie is a driven young mother. She was delighted in the Kiondo class to learn how to make beautiful baskets, and she lit up at the prospect of starting her own small business. Beyond Fistula will continue to support Joanie as she gets her basket weaving business off the ground and starts earning a consistent income for herself and her child.
