Atsede from Oakland, CA

I’m an immigrant who's been in the US 20 years. I need citizenship application fees

Being a citizen will help me with job opportunities, but I need the fingerprint and application fees. I also look forward to voting.

Atsede is so happy and grateful for all of your generosity. She could not believe she would be able to finally apply for her citizenship after all this time! You all have made one of her biggest goals come true. Thank you!

Overview

My current situation is I am unemployed. I have been looking for employment this past year and want to be able to support myself financially.

I need to complete my application for citizenship. This will cover the fee for filing my application and the biometric services fee for having my fingerprints taken. Meeting this need will help me because receiving my citizenship would allow me to become a more financially stable individual through better job opportunities. I would like to gain further independence.

I am an honest, hardworking mother. I look forward to starting this next chapter in my life as a U.S. Citizen. My goal is to gain employment and be able to vote for the first time in the U.S. once I receive my citizenship.

I'm from Ethiopia. I live Oakland and have been here for some years. I enjoy listening to traditional Ethiopian music. I'm happiest when I am with my family, they bring me so much joy. I'm most proud of raising my children and being a mother of four. I have four children. I love them very much, all are over the age of 18 and moving on towards their professional goals in life. They are the most supportive bunch a mother could ask for. I am very proud of them and am thankful that they have made a good life for themselves here in the U.S.

We met when Atsede was meeting with her Immigration Case Worker and was looking for a way to pay for her Citizenship Application fees. I think meeting this need is important because Atsede will finally feel as if she is legally a U.S. Citizen. She has lived in this country for over twenty years. She would like to gain employment and has a passion and eagerness to become financially self-sufficient. Atsede is a kind hearted woman, who has spent her entire life supporting her family and making sure her children have all the resources they need to survive and obtain success in the U.S. Now she is at a stage in her life where she can work towards her own goals.
