Tee from Inkster, MI

Fire destroyed belongings but not spirit. Basic household supplies will help rebuild.

Bedding, bathroom accessories, pots and pan, dishes, utensils and kitchen appliances will help my family re-establish ourselves in our new home.

Tee sends her warmest thanks Jul 24, 2014

Tee and Chanel, her validator, sent the following cards to show appreciation for the support provided to Tee after her house fire.

Overview

I live in Inkster, Michigan and am a former child care provider. I have four children who are my life and am happiest when I am with my family. I have two sons and two daughters. My children are 15, 14, 13 and 8 years old and all have been in good spirits despite us not having a home and being split up. My children have really shown me that it's not where you live that matters.

Basic kitchen and household goods will really help me rebuild after our housefire. Regaining the items lost or damaged in the fire and bringing my family back together as a whole under the same roof would be a joy.

My current situation is that my home caught on fire and everything was destroyed in the fire. I did not have insurance so I have to start over from scratch. Currently I am living with one of my sisters in Inkster while my children are split up and living with two seperate relatives, my sister and my mother. I am staying with my sister as it's closer to my employer. With my children being away, I am able to work more hours so I can save more and move my family back into the same house sooner.

Meeting this need will help me because it will reduce some of the stress I have been under. This need will provide us with the essentials needed for all of us to reside in the same house again.

We met when Ms. Merritt came in seeking Income Support Services. Ms. Merritt was a referred to Starfish by her caseworker from Department of Human Services, which is one of our agency partners.

I think meeting this need is important because Ms. Merritt able to build a home in efforts to have all four of her children back in the home.
