Nesha is thankful beyond words Jun 4, 2014

Nesha sent a letter thanking all her donors. It reads, "To my donors, I am thanking you for your donations. It is greatly appreciated and a big help to me and my three daughters. I feel more than words can say about the help my daughters and I have received. It's a blessing to have people like you. Once again, thank you.

Overview

My name is Nesha and I have three daughters ages 14, 9 and 1 month. I am a single parent living with heart disease and am trying to make it with my three girls and be there for them. I am happiest when I have the comfort in knowing that everyone will be alright. When my family is happy, I am happy and am most proud of my children loving me for me.

My goal is to make my children happy as children should be. Knowing that they are living comfortable will help me redirect my focus on getting back on my feet by finding a job and take away the stress that is not needed with my heart condition.

A queen size and two twin beds along with a stove and fridge will allow my family to move into a larger home that accomodates our needs. I have priced out all the items and with the help of Black Family Development and their relationship with furniture stores in the area I can get new beds and used appliances for a little more than $700. The additional money needed, I can borrow from family and pay them back as I get the money.

Meeting this need will help me because my children will no longer have to sleep on the floor and we will have a refrigerator to put food in, a hot meal on the stove to eat off of and warm blankets to sleep under. I have been living with cardiomyopathy chronic heart disease for 5 1/2 years now. I left an abusive relationship of 12 years and am trying to start my life and my children's life all over again. I left with nothing and my income is very little to get the things me and my children really need to get started. I am currently living in a one bedroom apartment but have been offered a larger home to rent from a friend of the family. The home does not have a stove or refrigerator. I don't want to move into the new home until I get these appliances because they are necessary in providing for my family. I always felt that as a parent, children are first. They are my heart. My girls keep me strong and keep me looking to the future. I just want to make them happy always.

I met Nesha when was added to my caseload for case management at Black Family Development.  She is a wonderful mother who's suffering with a heart condition and recently had a baby daughter with fluid on her lungs at birth. Nesha had to remain in the hosiptal a week after giving birth which was expensive and didn't help in her efforts to rebuild her family after leaving an abusive relationship.

I think meeting this need is important because she will be able to provided for her children and move into a larger home that better accomodates their size.  Nutrious meals are important for young children as well as a proper nights sleep.  These components will allow her children to function to the best of their ability at school which is important to their future.
