Overview

My name is Kenny and I'm from Detroit. I'm a motivational speaker and care a lot about making a difference in the lives of others. I have a dream to get out in the world and motivate other people in my position. I am a paraplegic, double amputee and am living on a limited income. I currently have a vehicle but can't drive it. This prevents me from accessing public speaking opportunities to share my story and help others.

My goal is to continue my work as a motivational speaker. I have had past experiences talking with groups but it was difficult for me to get to the venues because my transportation options were limited and costly at times.

I need hand controls so that I can operate my vehicle and get to events I am scheduled to speak at one-time. With hand controls I will be able to use my own car and get around town much easier than before.

Meeting this need will help me because it will allow me to continue with my dream and goal in life. Hand controls will allow me to accept opportunities to talk at speaking engagements and give me the freedom to get to places on my own.

We met when I saw Kenny in the Secretary of State office taking care of some business. I approached him, because of his wheelchair use to introduce myself and the organization. I gave him our brochure and encouraged him to look into it. He did and we've been friends every since.

I think meeting this need is important because Kenny has a kind heart and wants to share his story, a very encouraging story, with other people with disabilities. His pursuance to become a motivational speaker will take him places. He is seeking your help, so that he can get the necessary driving aids for a vehicle that he now owns and is unable to drive.

Kenny is a great person who deserves our support for a fresh start. Injured at age 5, Kenny has come a very long way and thank God he still has a full life ahead of him. Let's help Kenny reach his goal. Thank you.
