HUGE news: Michael has stable housing! May 7, 2014
Michael will be sharing a video shortly but I talked to him recently and he is beyond thrilled to be moved into his new apartment! Eliminating the stress of the constant search for a roof over his head is allowing Michael to focus on his education and employment search. He is in great spirits and without this need being funded, he would not have secured this apartment. Thank you all!
Overview
I am a strongly motivated 41-year-old male who is trying to get stability back in my life. My passion is to give back to the community and talk with kids to keep them off the street and focused on what's important in life.
My goals are to obtain permanent housing, secure employment, and further my education beyond my GED. I want to continue speaking to the youth of Chicago and help them avoid some of the poor choices I made when I was young.
I need a security deposit to obtain supportive housing for myself. I will be able to sustain the rent moving forward but need help with the security deposit.
Meeting this need will help me because it will give me some stability in my life and allow me to focus on employment and education. Not having to worry about shelter would be a godsend for me.

I have known Michael for over 3 years now. He has been a participant in the social service center's case management program in the past, and has participated in group social support sessions as well. Michael has also helped in the past with volunteering with our food deliveries for our food pantry. In working with Michael, I have found him to be a highly motivated individual who is always seeking to further his growth as a person. Michael always seems to be trying to improve every aspect of his life so being able to alleviate the stress of housing for him would be a tremendous help.
