Overview

I am a 46-year-old building maintenance worker and I love to drive forklifts. My family loves it when I cook for them and I love spending time with my grandkids.

My goals are to find employment, preferably using my construction or culinary skills. Once I get a job, I can finally get a place to live.

I need my birth certificate in order to better secure employment.

Meeting this need will help me because a lot of employment requires a birth certificate, so this will free up my options.

I met Kenard when we were interviewing participants for our Community Collaboration Project here at EDSSC. I now meet with Kenard every week, and he is one of our most self-improved participants: he has worked hard at contributing to the program and mending relationships in his life throughout the year. Kenard has taken many steps towards independence in the past few months. I think meeting this need is important because it allows Kenard more independence in his life. Kenard has the extensive experience needed for work, he just needs his records to take another step toward independence and self-sufficiency.
