Tonya from Detroit, MI

A bed and table will help reduce my chronic back and neck pain.

I'm currently sleeping on the floor and standing up to eat. These postures aggravate my back and neck pain to the point where I can barely function.

I've got my bed and I'm off of the floor! Oct 9, 2014

Thank you so very much for my bed set and bedding! I am so happy to be up off of the floor. You've been such a wonderful help and such a Godsend!

Overview

I suffer from chronic neck and back pain. I was recently housed in a one bedroom apartment through COTS, after being homeless for over a year. I'm in need of a bed to help relieve the pain and pressure from sleeping on the floor. I'm currently unemployed, but actively seeking employment. I am also planning on enrolling in classes at my local community college.

My goals are to improve my health and decrease back pain. Improving my pain levels will allow me to be productive in my job search, will allow me to accept positions that may require me to be on my feet and allow me to function in class once I enroll back in school.

I need a bed and dinette set.

Meeting this need will help me because I have chronic neck and back pain and I currently sleep on the floor. I also sit on the floor or stand at the kitchen counter when I eat. These postures and positions exacerbate my neck and back pain.

Tonya was recently housed through COTS' program that helps the homeless. I have been assigned as her Case Planner and will assist her with growth and becoming independent and self sufficient. Tonya is unemployed and she cannot obtain a bed or dinning room table. Tonya suffers from chronic back and neck pain. Having a bed and table to sit at will help alleviate the pain and pressure on her back when sleeping and eating.
