Overview
About 5 years ago, my life was spinning out of control. I ended up being convicted of a felony and served 3 years in jail. The time I spent in jail really changed my life and I know which direction I need to go in now. I am thankful because my life now has meaning and purpose.
After being released from prison, I knew I needed to change things. I went back to school and got my reading and math scores up. Eventually, I raised my scores high enough to get into the CNC Fast Track Program at Jane Addams. I am on track to become a CNC Machinist because I want to buy a house to bring my family together.
I know in order to buy a house, I need a steady career path. I need a metrology kit and steel toe boots in order to interview and find employment in the field I am studying.
Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to take care of others, spend time with my nieces and nephews, and teach things to my family that I have learned along the way. Having a home that a family and friends can come together in to create a positive atmosphere is so important.

I have known Thomas for over a year and a half now. He started in our tutoring program to improve his math skills, moved into our bridge program, and is now in the CNC Fast Track program. I cannot speak highly enough about Thomas. He is kind, dependable, motivated, and really wants a change in his life. He is about halfway through our program and really needs help to get his boots and measuring kit. I am confident that Thomas will be able to get past his background and move in the right direction.
