Overview

I'm recently housed (I was homeless for about nine years) and just trying to find a decent job as a janitor or maintenance worker. I'm so grateful that I have a friend who took me in when I was living on the streets. I'm so grateful that she believed in me and is still helping me.

My goals are to find a good job, apply for additional benefits as I continue my employment search, and just do the right thing as I live a normal and happy life.

I need a copy of my birth certificate. Until recently, I haven't had any form of identification (ID, social security card, or birth certificate) for the past 11 years. I've worked with the EDSSC staff to finally get a copy of my ID and social security card in the past month.

Meeting this need will help me because I need all forms of necessary identification. Having a birth certificate will help me apply for certain jobs, benefits, and housing opportunities.

Levon has been a guest of the EDSSC for several years, but I recently starting meeting with him when he requested assistance with obtaining his state ID. After some discussion, I learned he had no form of identification for the past 11 years. From requesting his school records to waiting hours in the Social Security office, Levon has been continuously patient and appreciative of the EDSSC and its services. Now that Levon has his Social Security card and state ID, we just need the last piece of the puzzle (his birth certificate) so he can apply for gainful employment and look for independent housing!
