I am a 50 year old Chicagoan. I just recently got housing after being homeless for 4 years and I'm trying to get my life back together again.

My goals are to go back to school and pick up a trade. I'd love to start working again in the maintenance field.

I need some basic household furniture to fill my new one-bedroom apartment. Right now I only have a bed and kitchen table. I would like to purchase kitchen chairs, a futon, dresser, microwave, kitchen supplies, and a radio to make my house into a home.

Meeting this need will help me because I'm not working right now, so I can't afford the basic necessities that I need to complete my home. I'm working with a supportive housing agency that is assisting me with monthly rent, but they don't have the funds to purchase more furniture and household needs.

I have known Ricky for over a year as he's come to the EDSSC for various services. Ricky received supportive housing through the ARCH program in November 2014 and was finally able to move into his new apartment last week. He is thrilled to have a space to call his own and is looking forward to enrolling in a trade school or culinary arts program. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
