Overview

I have a master's degree and am currently looking for work with my employment specialist at the Berkeley Food and Housing Program.

My goals are to find employment so that I can secure permanent housing. In order to get housing, I have to have the income, and in order to get the income I have to be able to get to and from my job each day.

I need a bicycle for transportation purposes, because mine was stolen. I would also like to purchase an efficient bike lock to protect the bike in the future.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to apply for more positions, get around better, and not have to pay for public transportation.

I recently began working with Tim as his Employment Specialist. Tim is motivated and willing to do whatever it takes to overcome obstacles. He has had many responses from jobs and is currently working as a canvasser collecting signatures for petitions while he looks for a more steady position. When I first began working with Tim his bike was stolen. The bike had allowed Tim to go to appointments and interviews without needing to pay for transportation. Getting a new bicycle would allow him more freedom to get around and to save towards a rental deposit for his own place instead of spending it on transportation. Tim and I have worked together to make sure that he has a secure place to keep his new bike and researched appropriate locks.
