Anna from Tucson, AZ

I'm going to school, but need help with books not covered by my scholarship.

I'm ready to enter a career, but I need help paying for some essential books and supplies not covered by my scholarships.

Overview

I am a 25 year-old receptionist at a GED school and I have been employed there now for 4 years. I have always wanted to continue my education but it has not been possible because I had to take on the responsibility of helping provide for my family. Now that my siblings are older, I have the time to pursue my own dreams.

My goals are to go to school for aesthetics. When I am done with my certification, I would like to continue my education as a laser technician and dermatologist. My future goal is to one day have my own all natural organic spa. I want to develop new creams and treatments that will benefit people with troubled skin.

I need help paying for the books and supplies required for my program. FAFSA and the scholarship that I have applied for will go towards paying for my tuition. I will continue to be working full time and paying the remaining costs on my own. The only issue that I have are the books and supplies which I have to purchase at the beginning of the aesthetics program.

Meeting this need will help me because it will allow me to move forward with my goal. Owning my own spa has been a dream of mine since I was a kid and I want to help people feel good about themselves and treat them for any of the problems that they have.

I met Anna while she was working through our agency. She is going to be attending school for aesthetics this fall and has been dreaming of this moment her whole life. Unfortunately, she can not receive assistance through us at Arizona @ Work. She will have her tuition covered with scholarships and the PELL grant and is looking to receive assistance with just her starter kit and books that are required. I would like to help her out so that her out of pocket cost will not be a financial burden on her.
