Shani

Shani from Bronx, NY

I'm 2 tests away from becoming a real estate agent! Just need a laptop to get there.

I need a laptop computer and a printer. I have very limited income and it is hard for me to obtain equipment to further my goals.

Overview

Hi, my name is Shani. I'm 37 years old and my goal is to become a real estate agent. I have survived domestic violence and two strokes in the past. I have struggled for a long time with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder I used to be a home health aide for over five years and although it was a positive experience, I came to learn that it wasn't my long-term goal.

My goal is to become a real estate agent. For this, I need to pass licensing exams and I also need to attain a high school diploma. At this point, I am two exams away from getting a real estate license so I have been trying my best and making progress towards my goals.

I need a laptop computer and a printer. I have very limited income and it is hard for me to obtain equipment to further my goals.

With a laptop computer and a printer, I will be able to further my studies online. I will have the necessary items to attain my high school equivalency diploma and study for licensing exams. Having a laptop computer and printer will really help me take the needed steps to become a real estate agent.

My name is David and I have been Shani's social worker for about three months now. I was actually the staff member to give Shani a tour of her apartment here over two years ago and since then, I have always been so moved by her resilient spirit and her positive attitude. She has always been very motivated, and even with her struggles I will always find her smiling and cracking jokes. I can attest to the unfortunate fact that Shani's only source of income right now is Public Assistance, which means that often she is struggling to survive. I want to support her goal of becoming a real estate agent, and I hope that you can help her achieve it. Thank you so much.
