Grace from Kericho County, Kenya

I'm determined to carve my own path. A plot of land will help me become self-sufficient.

I need funds to lease an acre of land ($100 per year) and for fertilizer, seeds and farming supplies.

Thanks and god bless Dec 12, 2018

I never believed there were people in this world that cared about me and would help me. You are all so beautiful for helping me get back on my feet. I have leased some land and will be working on preparing the land for planting. Your generosity makes me have hope. I promise to help others the way you have helped me. God bless.

I am a 45-year-old woman living in Kericho County, Kenya. I am an obstetric fistula survivor and lived with this condition for 8 yrs before finally having surgical repair this year. The fistula is from obstructed labor in childbirth- this caused uncontrolled leakage of urine for 8 years and the prolonged labor also resulted in the loss of my baby. My husband abandoned me due to this condition and the loss of our child during childbirth.

My goals are to be economically independent. I have just completed a business skills and farm skills training course through an organization called Beyond Fistula. I currently grow crops on a small plot of land that my brother allows me to use.

I need funds to lease an acre of land ($100 per year) and for fertilizer, seeds and farming supplies.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to grow enough crops (maize, beans, tomatoes) to feed myself and also to sell the excess to become self sufficient.

Thank you for helping Grace fund this need.

Grace is a vibrant woman who is part of our training program for obstetric fistula survivors, Beyond Fistula. We help women in Kenya after obstetric fistula repair. Grace just completed our business skills training course and a farm skills training course (Farming god's Way). She has been dependent on her brother and family and desires to be self sufficient. Our program will be following up with Grace to ensure she has the support needed to farm and start a business selling crops.
