Check out Mek's repaired computer screen! Dec 12, 2013
Thank you so much, again, for your support of Mek. He's thrilled that he can now continue his computer courses and work towards a career in the IT field (he even repaired the screen himself!).
Eleanor's just let us know Mek's ordered his computer screen and laptop case! Dec 6, 2013
She says,
Mek's computer screen and laptop case are on their way!
Mek's thank you: Dec 2, 2013
I am extremely grateful - This will allow me to repair my computer, complete my certifications, and seek employment in the I.T. field. Thank You!
Overview
I'm from Chicago. I live on the street. I'm most proud of being able to attend school while homeless.
I am homeless, unemployed, and working hard to change both of those. I'm happiest when I'm reading a book. Something interesting about me is that I read about five books a week.
I need to repair my laptop. This includes a screen to replace the broken one and a bag to protect it from future damage.
My current situation is that the screen on my laptop recently broke for the second time this year. I am currently homeless and unemployed, and unable to afford repairs or a replacement screen.
Meeting this need will help me because it will allow me to continue my studies and pursue a career in the IT field. I use this computer for school and I hope to use it in the future for work.
My goal is to achieve my certification in network administration and find employment in the IT field. With a functional laptop, I will be able to attend classes online or study for my certification. A new case will help to protect it against future damage.
If Benevolent will help me with the purchase of the screen, I will do the repairs and the installation of the screen myself, which will decrease the overall cost by at least $100. I've worked with Benevolent before, and they provided the bus fare to attend school for network administration.
Need funded!
Thank you for helping Mek fund this need.

We met just over a year ago. I see Mek at Inspiration Corporation working on his computer and reading.
I think meeting this need is important because Mek's computer is his key to employment. He has been working hard on getting his network administration certification, and the broken computer screen is a major setback in achieving his goal. Once he fixes his screen, he will be able to continue pursuing his certification and apply to jobs in the IT field.
Mek is very determined to achieving his goals. I know that once he receives the screen, he will fix his computer and be on his way to getting his certification.
