Thank you so much for my bed and table set. I will soon be attending truck driver school and getting a good night's sleep will help me perform and focus better. God Bless you!

I just received the email that Larry's need has been funded! Thank you so very much. I am going to notify Larry on today and we will begin to shop for him a bed and bedding. God Bless you all!

Overview

My name is Larry and I'm from Memphis but live in Detroit now. I have two daughters, ages 14 and 12. My oldest hopes to be an international chef and travel the world. My youngest is unsure what she wants to do when she grows up but enjoys singing. My current situation is that my previous apartment building caught fire and was condemned so I went to COTS for assistance. I am on a limited income due to my mental health disorder but would like to work and am looking to find a job that will fit long term.

My goal is to enroll in an educational program and obtain gainful employment so that I will be able to support my children and be independent and self-sufficient. I am recently divorced and due to my mental health, I've never really been on my own before. This is a first for me since arriving at COTS. While I struggle at times due to this challenge, I am learning to live life one day at a time. I hope that I'm able to be a good role model for my children.

A bed will provide me with a base to begin rebuilding my home after fire & smoke destroyed everything.

Meeting this need will help me because I will begin feel like I truly have a place to call home.

I met Larry when he applied for housing through my agency's Shelter Plus Care Program. This program houses individuals who are homeless and disabled.

I think meeting this need is important because he is sleeping and eating on the floor. If he is able to get his need met, he will be able to focus on meeting other goals, such as enrolling in an educational program and finding a job.

Larry is eager to improve his situation, and working hard towards his ultimate goal of becoming independent and self-sufficient.
