Edward from Detroit, MI

Severe back pain is affecting my job performance. I need a bed to help alleviate pain

I'm recently married. With a larger, blended family my wife and I gave our bed to our kids. Back pain has since resurfaced and is affecting my work.

Overview

I am formally homeless and now housed in a beautiful home. I am a hardworking father from Redford, Michigan. I'm newly married with a blended family of five children and two grandchildren. My youngest child is suffering with a developmental disorder which takes much of our resources - we provide for her the best we can with much love and appreciation to be her parents!

My goal is to strengthen my back so my work performance gets better. Some days are better than others when it comes to the pain but in general it has affected my abilities on the job, which is not good.

Upon getting married my wife and I gave our bed to our children so they could have a place to rest. Since we spend the money we have on ensuring our kids are taken care of this doesn't leave much for us to spend on ourselves. We, however, need a bed. Especially me, because I have back problems and sleeping on the floor causes great pain for me. This pain has recently been affecting my performance on my job.

Meeting this need will help me because having a bed will support my back and reduce pain. Reducing my back pain will allow me to function better on the job, which will ensure I keep it so that I can continue to provide for my family.

I met Edward about 2 years ago at COTS. I am his housing Case Planner and provided services for him as he strived to become the proud husband and father he is today. He was once homeless and jobless but now he is housed and works to take care of his family.
