Akosua wanted to say "THANK YOU!" Sep 5, 2014

She says, "I would like to thank everyone who helped me. I received every item and was able to assemble the shelving and able to store things off the floor and onto the shelving. Knowing that people care and want to help is so uplifting and I am so grateful."

Overview

I am a widow who is striving to live independently. I have had housing challenges in the past, however recently I have obtained my own apartment. I am looking forward to going back to school.

My first goal is to maintain permanently stable housing without a recurrence of homelessness. I am also working to sustain an atmosphere in my new apartment in which I can study. Finally, I would like to return to teaching part-time.

I need household items and furniture for my new apartment. This would include file cabinets, storage shelving, chairs, and hooks to hang clothing.

Meeting this need will help me because it will help provide me with stability and organization in my apartment. It will create a home environment conducive to relaxation, work, and study.

I have been working with Akosua, a graduate of our employment training program, for a year. Akosua has been steadfast in her goals since I met her. She moved into her new apartment about a month ago, and is eager to continue her studies and get back to work. The household items she has requested will make her home an environment that is more conducive to studying and will greatly help her achieve her goals.
