Overview

I am a 63 year old who has been living (not just existing) with a disability for 39 years. Despite doctors prognosis l live a very active and productive life working within my community on a number of boards and organizations.

My goals are to continue working to improve the lives of others through individual and system advocacy; to mentor, inspire, encourage, motivate and empower others to be their best ability; and help to make my community better thus making a better world.

I need a Dragon Dictate system for my computer. The paralysis only allows me to type with one finger. This system will allow me to create documents, compose and manage email and search the web with my voice.

Meeting this need will help me because it will allow me to be more efficent and productive when using my computer. It also will allow me better use of my time. I will be able to get much more done in less time.

I've known Lany for approximately 8 years. We met during the Ms. Wheelchair Michigan 2006 competition. She was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Michigan in 2004 and moved on to and placed 2nd in the Ms. Wheelchair America that year. Lany has been an icon for disability rights and has made a difference in legislative policy change and has been visual and effective in our community. We have worked together for many years and Lany currently runs a peer mentoring program for those who have recently suffered a spinal cord injury and are learning to cope with life without limits. Among so many things, Lany is a wheelchair basketball champion.
