Nicole from Inkster, MI

A breast pump will ensure my ability to breastfeed well into my child's first year.

Breastfeeding is important to me. I was unsuccessful after my first two children so my doctor recommended using a breast pump to help with production.

Overview

I am a stay-at-home mom of two boys and am expecting my third child. The thing that makes me the happiest is finding the best ways to help them be happy and continuing to build our bond on a daily basis.

My goal is to continue to stay at home with my 2 boys and successfully breastfeed my new baby while recovering from a C-section.

I need a dual electric breast-pump to ensure I am able to breastfeed well into my child's first year. Since I was unsuccessful with my first two children, my doctor recommended I use a breast pump to help stimulate milk production. Without the pump my body will likely stop producing shortly after I give birth.

Meeting this need will help me because I'm really invested in breastfeeding my third child to help facilitate the first few months of bonding along with ensuring her physical health as she grows. Due to the type of pump that is needed my insurance nor WIC support the purchase.

I have known Nicole through our Infant Mental Health program for the last 6 months. In our program we support pregnant and parenting moms to prepare for their babies and explore thoughts and ideas about parenting. Nicole is one of the most intuitive, insightful, and thoughtful parents I work with, and she is constantly attempting to problem-solve and explore her hopes and desires for herself, her family, and her children. She is a very active participant in services and is really excited about the possibility of successfully breastfeeding her third and final child, an experience she was not able to have before due to lacking needed resources. Nicole has also always been grateful for any support she receives and is teaching her children to be kind and empathic so that hopefully in the future they as a family can "pay forward" the good will.
