To all the funders who graciously donated to help me get a laptop, thank you and God bless. Now that I have my laptop I can continue my education and work on assignments at school and at home with less stress. I can't wait to become a computer geek! I would like to thank you again for all your help- I am truly grateful.

Overview
I am a 21-year-old single parent and student. I recently completed New Moms' Academy program to gain job readiness skills to help me obtain employment. The Academy class gave me the motivation I needed to enroll in school full-time and further my career so I can obtain meaningful quality employment.
My goals are to finish my general education requirements at Harold Washington College and transfer to a program to become an ultrasound technician. I plan to advance my career in the medical field and provide a better life for myself and my daughter.
I need a laptop computer in order to complete assignments and conduct research for class. Currently, I am not able to stay at the school library because I have to pick up my daughter from daycare. I am not always able to access computers or wifi because I have to work around my daughter's daycare schedule. I live with my elderly grandmother and take care of my daughter by myself. Having a computer of my own will allow me to work on assignments at home while also taking care of my daughter.
Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to successfully complete school and be one step closer to my career goal of becoming an ultrasound technician. I will be qualified to work in a meaningful and sustaining position that will help me provide a better life for my family.

I have known Tasheena as her Supportive Employment Specialist through our job readiness program, The Academy of Professional Development. I worked with Tasheena around career planning and goal setting. Tasheena decided to fully commit to pursuing her career goal as an Ultrasound Technician by enrolling in school full time. Tasheena has shown tremendous dedication to her school work while also being a mother to her toddler daughter. She uses our computer lab from time to time, but she would really benefit from having a computer of her own . This is a simple need that would make a big difference in Tasheena's life and reinforce her commitment to creating a better life for her family.
