My job title is Employment Coach and I've been in this position since August 2011.
My work involves engaging adults in quality education, leadership, career exploration, and employment opportunities that meet the demands of skills-based workforce in an effort for families to achieve economic independence; as well as providing case management support to assist participants eliminate barriers that can interfere with accessing and retaining gainful employment. This includes identifying transportation assistance, emergency funds, and financial support with utility payments. I also manage a pool of interns to conduct mock interviews, facilitate Job Club, and assist with resume writing.
What I like about my job is that I am able to do good. Helping low income families find employment to maintain a roof over their heads and support their families makes me feel that good things can happen to good people with the right help.
