My job title is Family Success Coach.
My work involves assisting families with increasing their financial well-being through motiviating them to obtain employment, increasing their financial literacy skills (budgeting, banking and savings), as well as helping them to become better advocates for their children's educational needs.
What I like about my job is seeing the actual progress that the participants make, whether drastic improvements or not. I celebrate all success. In addition, helping them work towards reaching their own defined goals is very rewarding.
Most of my participants come from very low to no income and are constantly fighting against generational influences. In saying that, many of them have never had anyone in their corner encouraging them to fight against the obstacles that present to them. In the supportive role that I provide, I feel it is my duty to make sure that my participants are equipped with the bare necessities to give them a better chance of beating the odds and ending generational curses of poverty.
