My job title is Resident Associate at PATH West Los Angeles. I have been in this position since 2006.
I am a Resident Associate, meaning I make sure the residents have what they need, and keep the facility clean. With my other hat I am the volunteer coordinator for our Westside PATH facility. I recruit volunteers to provide and serve meals, and interact with donors to inform them of our needs and tell PATH's story. I also give tours to elementary and secondary students to inspire them to give back to those who are homeless.
From the time PATH began 28 years ago, I have been a supporter of our goals, first as a volunteer, and a paid staff member for the past six years. I love the opportunity to witness change and transformation in our clients when they are given support. PATH is a national model in effective ways to empower people. It has expanded out of the Los Angeles area, providing supportive housing in near-by communities in Long Beach and San Diego.
Our long-range goal is to see the end to homelessness with everyone empowered to be self-sufficient.
