Lisa Canaday
My job title is Case Manager. My work involves helping families overcome homelessness by providing transitional housing for a period of 2 years. During this time I assist families with life skills and implementation of changes that support long term self-sufficiency and financial stability. My program helps clients with some schooling costs and provides job placement assistance. Creating balanced budgets, subsidized housing, monthly food deliveries, some clothing and home goods are also provided.
What I like about my job is being able to build relationships with my clients and watching them transform while in the program from a state of crisis upon initial entry (i.e. homeless) to a state of stability.
I am firm believer that providing only housing does not solve the problem of homelessness. Providing other wrap around services as well that address the needs of the family is what contributes to long term success.
