Brian
At LIFT, Brian works to strengthen and provide oversight of the daily operations of LIFT’s two offices in the District of Columbia. Brian provides training, supervision, and support for a team of eight Fellows and 60+ volunteers; he builds and fosters relationships with community partners; evaluates program data in order to analyze and improve program delivery and outcomes; and supports national LIFT communications and development efforts.
Brian LIFTs because he deeply identifies with LIFT’s mission, which he sees as a natural extension of his lived experience. As a first-generation immigrant from Guatemala, Brian had to hone his self-advocacy skills early on as his family navigated hardships and opportunities and as his parents worked tirelessly to provide for Brian and his sisters. He sees similar goals and aspirations in community members that come to LIFT, and is inspired by each person’s spirit and resilience. Brian initially came to LIFT as a volunteer and then served as an AmeriCorps member and LIFT Fellow. Previously as a coordinator for LIFT, he engaged in 1-on-1 direct service and expanded LIFT’s outreach and impact to underserved communities in D.C.
