Manny from Gardner, MA

First generation college student. A small deposit will allow me to start classes!

I'm excited to become the first in my family to attend college. I just need to pay one deposit to hold my place at my university.

My need and situation

I am a Gateway to College student who is graduating high school. I have been accepted to Johnson and Wales University in Florida, and I would love to attend this fall. I am smart and ambitious student who is eager to learn and explore with my education.

My goals are to continue with my education. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from high school and the first person to go to college. I plan to attend Johnson and Wales University in Florida to further my education, completing my bachelor’s degree.

I need money for my deposit that I have to send to the college. The deposit will be used to hold my place at the school, so that I will be able to go to school this fall. Along with that, it will be used for my senior needs, for such things as graduation expenses like my cap and gown.

Meeting this need will help me because it will make sure that I am able to attend school this fall. I'll be able to keep my academics going and not have to take time away from school. Without this deposit, I will be out of school and stuck, not able to build up the career I wanted from myself and possibly not allowing myself to go back to school in the future.

Manny is my advisee. I have known Manny for many years, since he was in the 7th grade. He was a TRiO student when I first meet him and he was always curious and eager to learn. He entered the Gateway to College program in 2014 and since then he has excelled academically and socially.
