Jason from Chicago, IL

I'm a veteran getting back on track for my kids. Work gear will help me get there!

As a father of 3, I'm ready to start my new career as I support my family. I need welding gear to show employers I am ready for the job.

My need and situation

I am turning over a new leaf and moving into a new part of my life. I am starting over. I have 3 kids that I am supporting and I am attending JARC's welding program to find a job - a stable career that I can use to support my family. I am most proud of my strong will to overcome everything that I have gone through recently. I am happiest when I'm part of something positive and can contribute in a productive way, like the welding program. I am a parent of 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl. Even though my daughter is my middle child, she acts like the oldest, and I have been proud to watch her grow. I believe that positive actions will always lead to positive results, which is why I am in the welding program. I am a veteran who has made some mistakes but I am excited to have gotten my life back on track.

My goal is to find full-time employment in welding. I am currently looking for more entry-level jobs in manufacturing so that I can get my foot in the door and support myself and my family while I finish training. My goal is to be financially independent. Housing, employment, and keeping myself in the right environment are the things that I am working very hard to achieve.

I need welding gear, including a helmet, jacket, gloves, and steel toed boots.

Meeting this need will help me because I know that I can impress employers with how serious I am about my new career.

Jason is a perfect example of someone who has overcome many things in order to get where he is today. I first met Jason when he interviewed for our welding program. Although he is quiet, he impressed me with how seriously he took the program. His very first day he was so worried about being late that he didn't wait for his ride but took public transportation to get here. That kind of initiative is the character trait that will help him go very far in the manufacturing industry. Welding in particular is a very demanding career, but Jason has demonstrated that he has what it takes to make it happen.
