My need

This includes the deposit for the apartment that I must live in while on campus as a mother with my child. The rent will be covered via grant, but I must have a deposit of $500.

Meeting this need will help me because I will beable to continue my education in a safe evironment and pursue my education career goals of becoming an attorney. Meeting this need will help me achieve future goals because I must live on campus in an apartment/family housing in order to attend the university and go to school. The funds will go directly to the deposit and I will have housing secured and will beable to go to school.

My situation

My current situation is that I have no one who supports my son and myself financially. We are currently living with friends who allows us to stay with them and pay no rent. Unfortunately, my family members (mother, father...) are not supportive. I have been accepted to SIU/Carbondale and must move into family housing with my son in August. In order to apply for housing, I must have a cash/mo deposit of $500.

Right now, my biggest challenge is I have is I'm not able to meet this financial need. While I am receiving, through DHS SNAP assistance, it is all that I have at this time.

I am a single mother, who is responsible and desires to achieve a quality education. Over the years I have had many challenges and no support from family member, but I have survived and deires to continue my education endeavors. And am determined to be successfuly.

I have known the recipient for over a year and have become very close to her. The recipient was referred to our teen subsequent program via another teen mother who also was successful through our program.

I think meeting this need is important because she will be able to secure her apartment with the $500 deposit that's needed for family housing.

This will move the recipient's life forward by allowing her to live in family housing while obtaining her bachelor's degree at SIU, Carbondale.
The recipient is currently homeless but is staying with friends temporarily. The recipient has been accepted at SIU, has a verbal agreement with housing at the time. She is very focused and is a very responsible mother.
