Alanna and Rich

Alanna and Rich from Cold Spring, NY

We're special needs parents of a preschooler; we need supplies for the school year.

We're hoping to have our son attend preschool in the fall. We have a hard time making ends meet, so any help to buy supplies would be appreciated.

My need and situation

We are 2 special needs parents of a preschooler who also has disabilities. My name is Alanna, and I receive disability benefits and I also work from home as a small engine mechanic. My name is Rich, and I am currently unemployed due to an injury.

Our goal is to have our son attend a special needs preschool in the fall to learn the necessary skills needed to transition to a mainstream school environment. He needs to learn how to better communicate with others, in addition to coping skills to interact more appropriately with those around him.

We need help with our son's school supplies such as pull ups, wipes, clothes, a backpack and lunch box. We are currently living on food stamps and disability benefits and things are extremely tough.

Meeting this need will help us greatly because we are struggling financially and we would like our son to be able to start off with the necessary supplies for a successful school year.

I first met Alanna when she was 4 years old and I was her preschool teacher. She then came to me as a mother of a preschooler with a disability wanting to enroll her child into the Easterseals program. Both she and her husband, Rich, need a great deal of support and we would like to provide that for them, as well as their son, Kayden.
