Overview

I am a 55 year old semi-homeless, unemployed male. I went back to school last year for my C.N.A. while I was staying at a homeless shelter. It was very hard at times, and at the same time I am very thankful for it.

My goals are to pursue a career in helping people in any way I can. I also plan to continue my volunteer work at The Community Builders, where I help lift up others in my community.

I need assistance toward purchase of a vehicle, so I can get back and forth to work and provide rides to people in need.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to move forward in life and become more self-sufficient. It will also help me regain my self-worth once again. I will be able to contribute and help other people who are also going through hard times.

Thomas was staying at the homeless shelter, a block away from our community resource center. He had just started classes at the college and needed a quiet place he could study for a couple hours each day. A few months later he began volunteering at The Community Builder and since has over 500 hours of volunteer time while working on getting back on his feet. He is a dedicated hard worker and a valuable member of or volunteer team. Having a vehicle will allow Thomas to continue to move forward and is necessary with the limited public transportation and employment in our area.
