Kenneth

Kenneth from Chicago, Illinois

Ready to start work as a welder. Need help with 1st month's rent to relocate.

I am in need of funding for a security deposit and first month’s rent in order to make this life transition as smooth as possible.

Overview

After a couple months of hard work improving my reading and math skills through JARC’s Bridge program, I trained to become a welder for three months as a member of its Careers in Manufacturing Program. In December, I received the American Welding Society (AWS) certificate as well as completed OSHA training.

Last time I requested funding through Benevolent, I expressed that I was applying to manufacturing firms outside of Chicago and that I would need financial support to fix my car and have a reliable means of transportation. Since then, there have been two new exciting developments in my life. First, I received the necessary funds to repair my car and hope to have it running in the next few weeks. Secondly, I was officially offered a welding job at a large boat manufacturing company in Fort Wayne, Indiana! I accepted the position and am excited to relocate as soon as possible.

While the repaired car is an important step in relocating to Indiana and becoming a professional welder, I need some additional financial assistance to cover housing costs that I will not be able to pay until I receive my first paycheck. I am in need of funding for a security deposit and first month’s rent in order to make this life transition as smooth as possible.

I created a budget for the next 12 months with my financial coach and discussed a plan to ensure long-term financial stability. I am very ambitious and look forward to this new career with a well respected company. I hope to continue learning new manufacturing skills and concentrating on my future happiness.

Ken has always been attentive in my digital and financial literacy classes. In addition to always being on time, he has a deep passion for learning and has become a leader in the classroom. I am so excited that he has been offered a welding job in Indiana and strongly believe that this financial assistance for housing costs will allow him to comfortably establish himself in a new place. Ken has always been so honest and clear about what he’s looking for, and it would be great to see him receive this support.
