Overview
I need welding gear to start looking for jobs. This includes prescription welding glasses, welding jacket, welding sleeves, steel toed boots, channel locks, welding gloves, and welding cap. Meeting this need will help me because it would take a world of stress off of me. I would feel more secure in accepting a position knowing I have adequate equipment to train and start a new job.
My goal is to be able to save money and focus on finding a job. Once I obtain employment I can have better child care support and a home for my family.
My current situation is that I am a single mother of three looking to better my economic situation. I am currently training with the Jane Addams Resource Corporation in welding and manufacturing that would allow me to take care of my family better. We are currently homeless and by getting my welding gear, it would make for me to focus on finding a job.
Right now, my biggest challenge is inadequate childcare. I fear for the safety of my nine year old living in the city. I can't be with her full time because I currently don't have a stable place to live and securing a job in welding will help me provide a stable place for her.
I think of myself mostly as a hard worker whose goal is to secure a long term career with a good company.
I'm most proud of the fact that I went back to school and took additional classes to learn the math skills I neglected in high school.
I've worked at jobs including temp jobs, graphic design, substitute teacher, assistant, and welding.
Something interesting about me is I love spending quality time with my children.

I have known Angie since she enrolled in our Women in Manufacturing Program in April 2013.
I think meeting this need is important because Angie is currently searching for housing for her and her daughter. She is trying to put all the money she has saved towards housing. Assisting Angie in getting her own welding gear and boots takes the stress of this off of her so she can focus on providing a safe place to live for her daughter and also a stable income, as well.
This will move Angie's life forward by increasing her chances of a stable income that comes with a manufacturing career.
Angie is a smart, talented, experienced, determined hard worker and a dedicated mom!
