Louis from Chicago, Illinois

I've taken the first steps, now I need help w/ safety equipment so I can be a welder.

Having the right welding equipment will enable me to find my first jobs, and move ahead in my career.

Overview

I am a recently certified welder by the American Welding Society. I'm looking to further my career and skills in welding, but I am unable to afford my own safety equipment due to caring for my Veteran family member.

My goal is to become experienced in different types of welding so that I can further myself in ironworking, and eventually become a blacksmith. I’m currently in a welding training program and was chosen as Trainee of the Month due to my initiative, performance, mentoring, enthusiasm, and attendance.

I need a welding helmet, boots, jacket, gloves, and prescription safety glasses to have the essential personal protective equipment to apply for jobs, and show off my skills during weld tests in interviews.

Meeting this need will help me because then I’ll have the safety equipment to interview for jobs that without the gear, I’d have no chance of getting.

Louis has truly embraced the welding training program at JARC. He is taking full advantage of this learning opportunity . He totally deserved his recent Trainee of the Month award. Getting this necessary safety gear will definitely help him launch his new welding career.
