Overview

Hi my name is Charlene and I'm from Detroit. I have a son and daughter but they are out of the house now. I am formally homeless but now I have housing through COTS and recently completed a computer and clerical program at Operation Able. Upon completing the program I was placed at Hannan House, a local senior center, as an intern. I am still working there but recently got accepted into Wayne State where I will begin taking classes in the Fall.

My goal is to continue my internship at Hannan House and complete my classes at Wayne State University. Eventually I'd like to be a certified public accountant.

A laptop and professional attire will support my internship, help me practice my computer skills and complete assignments from school.

Meeting this need will help me because now that I have completed my classes at Operation Able I'd like to continue practicing the skills learned at home. I cannot do that, however, without a computer. I will also begin taking classes at Wayne State and will need a computer to complete my classwork. Professional attire will come in handy because Operation Able was able to place me in an internship at the completion of the program. I, however, have limited professional work clothes.

I met Charlene when she was transferred to my caseload at COTS about 2 years ago. I think meeting this need is important because Charlene is going to school and after completing computer applications with Operation Able now works as an intern. She needs professional attire and a computer to complete her studies at Wayne State University and for her internship at Hannan House.
